Remedial Massage

Remedial Massage is a treatment modality that manipulates the soft tissues of the body including movement for a specific therapeutic effect, rather than a general therapeutic effect. It uses relevant techniques, lubricants and movements according to the client’s needs and response. This leads to the healing process, which begins at the cellular level aiding soft tissues in repairing, restoring functional integrity and adapting back to health.

Lymphatic Drainage

Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a type of gentle massage which is intended to encourage the natural drainage of the lymph from the tissues space body. The lymph system depends on intrinsic contractions of the smooth muscle cells in the walls of lymph vessels (peristalsis) and the movement of skeletal muscles to propel lymph through the vessels to lymph nodes and then beyond the lymph nodes to the lymph ducts which return lymph to the cardiovascular system. Manual lymph drainage uses a specific amount of pressure (less than 9 ounces per square inch) and rhythmic circular movements to stimulate lymph flow.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage uses five styles of long, flowing strokes to massage. The five basic strokes are effleurage (sliding or gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction (cross fiber) and vibration/shaking. Swedish massage has shown to be helpful in reducing pain, joint stiffness, and improving function in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee over a period of eight weeks.

Cultural Bodywork

Cultural Bodywork is the combination of the healing arts of the South Pacific cultures. The foundation of this art of healing is the “flight of the navigator” a dance like movement of the Hawaiian Bodywork, combined with the grounded presence of the Maori and innate sensitivity of the Aboriginal peoples. Bringing a spiritual strength and awakening sensitivity.

This form of bodywork is preformed in constant motion around the client, dynamic and flowing, allowing shifts on an innate cellular level, and uses a body mapping system that connects muscle tissues and body flow lines.

The movement has an awakening effect on the tissues and cells, cleanses all systems of the body, clears the mind and invigorates the soul not just for the client the practitioner as well.

Kahuna

Kahuna massage, based on the ancient lomi lomi is a whole body massage like no other. It is gentle but also deep flowing form of massage that will relax, revitalise, and revive you.

This beautiful form of bodywork provides a holistic approach to healing by balancing the body-mind in its physical, emotional and spiritual dimensions.

Ka Huna body work is unique in a number of respects.  The practitioner uses their hands, forearms and elbows and moves around the table (using flowing Hula and Tai Chi style movements).  They work with energy to apply soft and deep tissue massage.  Music is played and the practitioner attunes the flow of the massage to harmonies the various rhythms within the clients’ body, mind & soul.

Hot Stone Massage

stone massage is a massage that uses smooth, flat, and heated rocks placed at key points on the body.

Aromatherapy Massage

Aromatherapy is a form of alternative medicine that uses volatile plant materials, known as essential oils, and other aromatic compounds for the purpose of altering a person's mind, mood, cognitive function or health.

Pre-natal Massage

Prenatal massage shares many of the goals of regular massage: to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and mobility, and just make you feel good. But it's also tailored specifically to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies, and therapists who are trained in prenatal massage adjust their techniques accordingly.

Shirodhara

Shirodhara is a form of Ayurveda therapy that involves gently pouring liquids over the forehead (the 'third eye'). It was developed by vaidyas (practitionars of Ayurveda) in Kerala, India for use in sukhachikitsa (restorative therapy).

Hopi Ear Candling

Hopi ear candling is an alternative medicine practice claimed to improve general health and well-being by lighting one end of a hollow candle and placing the other end in the ear canal.
